INTRODUCTION


MISSION STATEMENT

* to provide a focal point for scholarly research into
the Island of St Helena and its dependencies,
Ascension Island and Tristan da Cunha

* to foster a greater  public awareness of these islands



INSTITUTE RESOURCES

The Institute maintains a register listing those involved in research into St Helena and its dependencies.  It also maintains a register of research in progress.  These registers are available for inspection.  To be included in the register, please e-mail the Institute.
 

* Database of Recent Publications

The Institute maintains bibliographies and tables of contents of publications and on St Helena and its dependencies, as well as a list of recent publications .
 

* Electronic Mailing List and Discussion Forum

The Institute maintains a forum/mailing list dedictated to St Helena family history.
 

* Information

The Institute aims to answers requests for information as and when time permits.  Contact

THE ST HELENA INSTITUTE
 

Dr Alexander Schulenburg MA MPhil PhD FRAI FRHistS

Dr Schulenburg is a historian and anthropologist.  He was educated at the universities of St Andrews and Cambridge and previously taught in the School of African and Asian Studies (University of Sussex).  He is currently a Senior Research Officer at the City of London Corporation, carrying out research into the City's historical and legal documentation.   Dr Schulenburg is the editor of Wirebird: The Journal of the Friends of St Helena.

The St Helena Institute is based in Cambridgeshire, England.
